Thinking of joining the LGPS?
The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) is a statutory, funded pension scheme provided by your employer, which provides high-quality pension benefits based on final pay. It is a secure scheme because its benefits are defined and guaranteed by law. It is an important part of your pay package.
The LGPS is available to all employees in local government, or in other organisations that have elected to participate in it (see the employer list). Teachers, youth & community workers, police officers and firefighters are not allowed to contribute.
(Please note: If you are a casual employee without a 'contract of mutuality' for at least 3 months you will not be able to join)
